No. 266

Place of origin: Artigas – Uruguay

Geological period: Cretaceous

Age: 120-140 million years old

Dimensions: H 55cm x W 40cm x D 25cm
Splendour is what this natural sculpture emanates, presenting the viewer with deep purple amethyst and a variety of colour due to white quartz, green celadonite, and some artful inflections of pink and orange agate. Rare in the unique spectrum of hues it brings together, the mineral sculpture itself is further embellished by its polished frontal frame around the amethyst. It’s possible to admire wonderful natural designs resembling flowers or eyes, with petals of purple amethyst and white quartz and central orange/pink agate stems, formed by cut stalactites. These further enhance and intensify the deep colour of the amethyst. The back of the piece maintains its rough basalt condition, and the edges have been polished. It’s a stunning piece of imposing size, with good presence, emitting a sensation of movement due to its formation and crystals. This natural sculpture is displayed on a custom metal stand.
